Basically, Phillies pitching just got beat today. Padilla gave up four. Hernandez gave up four. Ramirez gave up one. Phils offense wasn't entirely bad ... 9 hits, just not nearly enough to keep up with the Braves 8th inning pounding. I suppose GameStar will go to Burrell, basically just for reaching base the most times. Burrell walked, doubled, and had an RBI single in the third.
Utley's hitting streak had to come to end at some point. Would a couple of hits on his part have saved the Phillies today? Probably not, but who knows. I'm certainly not blaming him. Nice nice catch in the 5th, that's for sure. Although Glanville ran the bases very well to score a run in the fourth, it didn't help that he went hitless also. Padilla also ended his four-game winning streak, and now, after feeling discomfort in his elbow, he is on the 15-day disabled list. That, I don't like. Said a Braves blogger: "It's a lot more fun when Roberto Hernandez is on the other team."
