Thoughts, theories, pure fan-driven love for the Philadelphia Phillies

Yes, I should really have posted many things over the past couple weeks, and I apologize if it seems I gave up on my team in the homestretch.

I assure you I have been watching every game, but time has prevented me from commenting.

The Phillies are eliminated, but that's okay. Unfortunately I am now living far from Philadelphia, but some of the best times of my summer this year were spent at Citizens Bank Park, and I am happy with the season.

Of course, we still have games left so I won't make this a final post. But although I was wrong about the Phils winning the series since Day 1, I don't mind this outcome.

Right now the Phils are a half-game ahead of the Marlins, and that, to me, is something to celebrate.

What a game.

Bewtween Wagner's throwing the cooler onto the field to Todd Pratt's hitting the franchise record-breaking homerun for the season, this might have been one of the best games of the season.

Regardless, it's the Phils' longest winning streak for the season at five games, and that's something to celebrate even if it is pretty bad.

Okay ... Theoretically ... THEORETICALLY ....

The Phillies could still win the wild card. Yes, we'd basically have to win every game for the rest of the season. But, it is, at the very least, possible, folks.

Thinking about it too much hurts my brain, but here are the teams that each wild card contender will be facing in the next couple weeks. (Click the teams for their schedules.)

PHILLIES: New York, Cincinnati, Montreal, Florida, Montreal

GIANTS: Arizona, Milwaukee, San Diego, Houston, Los Angeles

CUBS: Florida, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Florida, Pittsburgh, New York

ASTROS: Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Milwaukee, San Francisco, Milwaukee

MARLINS: Chicago, Montreal, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Atlanta

PADRES: Colorado, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Arizona

I just wrote a long post about last night's game, but blogger ate it. Yeah, I'm pissed.

Anyway ... basically I just said last night's game gave us something to cheer about, even if the Phils don't have a shot at a pennant race.

Gavin Floyd: Game Star. Pat Burrell: Welcome back. Jason Michaels: Slowly getting better. Placido Polanco: Very consistent lately.
